Great Wilderness Challenge 2009

A team of 4 Pets As Therapy volunteers, 1 Junior Club member and 3 PAT Dogs from the Highlands, Islands and Grampian Branch took part in this years Great Wilderness Challenge, 7 mile circular walk over bogs and moor to raise money for Pets As Therapy.  This was the first event, not to mention the first time that Junior Club member Annelise Maclean had taken part in such an event,  what a start !– well done Annelise.

Annelise accompanied her mum Julie (who is the Highlands, Islands and Grampian Branch Secretary) and their PAT Dog Bonny.  The other members of this great team were Margaret Begg & PAT Dog Honey, Cath McCulloch & PAT Dog Henry and Katrina O’Neill regrettably on the day, poor PAT dog Noah was unable to accompany his mum and had to stayed at home (get well soon Noah).

The team set off after registration in sunshine, which after a mornings rain was a nice surprise.  The weather held for the 3 hours it took them to tramp over the hills.  Even the midges were bearable!

On their return, they each received a medal and buffet meal even the dogs got a meal, in the comfort of the Village Hall.

Congratulations to them all, fingers crossed they reached their target of raising £1,000 in sponsorship.
